Farming of the Future
Hydroponic Vegetables
SPECIALS／02
FOR THE FUTURE
“Making farming possible anywhere in the world.”
The vegetables born from that belief
are the ones PACKN-TO uses.
At PACKN-TO, we use “Crispy Lettuce,”
a hydroponically grown vegetable from Spice Cube Inc.,
a company whose motto is
“Making farming possible anywhere in the world.”
We chose this vegetable for three reasons:
taste, practicality, and a shared belief in farming.

FOR THE FUTURE
Taste
Crisp texture that
lasts and lasts
Spice Cube's Crispy Lettuce keeps its crisp texture far longer than ordinary lettuce. That longevity also helps reduce food loss caused by wilting.
It also holds its texture when paired with fried ingredients, without going limp from the oil.
Practicality
From growing to harvest,
all inside the factory
Hydroponic lettuce is grown and harvested entirely indoors. There is no concern about pests or soil, so there is no need to wash each leaf by hand.
It is a one-of-a-kind ingredient that lets our kitchen serve guests faster while letting the company as a whole offer food we can vouch for.
A Belief in Farming
“Making farming possible anywhere in the world.”
Spice Cube Inc. was founded in 2018 under the concept of “making farming possible anywhere in the world.” Their plant factories need only water and electricity and fit in the space of a single tatami mat. By growing vegetables indoors, they offer a way to address social issues such as CO₂ reduction and the use of vacant properties.
PACKN-TO was deeply moved by Spice Cube's work to change the state of Japanese agriculture and create a sustainable way of farming.
