ABOUT US
The name “PACKN-TO” has two meanings.
The first is “PACK.”
While it literally means “to wrap,” it also conveys the idea of “wrapping feelings and onigiri.”
The second is “TO.”
This signifies “to” in English, meaning “to you.”
The hyphen (“-“) connecting the two words represents our mission of “delivering onigiri filled with emotions to you.”
COMMITMENTS
The first is the essential ingredient for onigiri: “salt.” PACKN-TO’s salted onigiri uses salt from Tanoya Enjiro in Kochi Prefecture. This is a “completely sun-dried salt” made through a long and meticulous process. Highly praised both domestically and internationally, Enjiro personally crafted this custom-made salt for us.
The second commitment is to the “water” used for cooking rice. We blend “ultra-soft water,” which allows the rice to fully absorb moisture and cook to a fluffy texture, with “Kansui” (*), a mineral-rich seawater from the Tano coast of Kochi Prefecture. This process ensures that each grain absorbs just the right amount of salt and minerals, resulting in perfectly seasoned rice.
(*) PACKN-TO’s Kansui (brine water) is
high-salinity seawater created where the Nahari River in Kochi Prefecture mixes with the ocean, carrying nutrients from the mountains.
The third commitment is our signature product: “salted onigiri,” which is always served freshly cooked. We use Mitsubishi Electric’s premium rice cooker “Hon-Tan-Gama Tsumugi,” ensuring a firm texture with a chewy bite and a natural sweetness. The rice maintains its shape and quality, staying delicious even when cooled.
